Regattas

Regattas are organized crew races where teams compete. In the Spring, we attend a variety of sprint regattas and in the Fall, we attend a variety of head regattas throughout the region. Individual members of our club may also compete on their own regattas beyond what BRC attends as a group.

Head Race

Held in the Fall with twists and turns. The shells do not line-up, but instead race against the clock, after starting one behind the other. You need not pass another crew to beat it, but if you pass someone that started in front of you, you have surely beat their time. The race distance is usually 5,000 meters.

Sprint Race

Held in the Spring, crew start with the bow of their shells even and race in lanes parallel to each other. They start together, and the first crew to cross the finish line wins. Youth and Collegiate races are 2000 meters and Master rowers race 1000 meters.
