Learn to Row (LTR) is an intensive 3 day adult learn to row class, designed to teach the basics of proper sweep rowing. Classes are co-ed and for all ages over the age of 21.
Do I need rowing experience?
This is an introductory level course. Most participants have never set foot in a rowing shell before their first class.
Are there any physical requirements?
To fit in the boats rowers need to be at least 4’8” tall and weigh less than 300lbs.
Am I too old?
Our rowers range from early 20s to early 80s. Many of us hope to be still doing this into our 80s!
Do I need to know how to swim?
Yes.
What if I cannot make all of the classes?
We are offering two sessions to help alleviate any scheduling difficulties. It is imperative you make all 3 sessions of the course in order to maximize your rowing knowledge.
What if it rains?
If it’s a light rain, we’ll go out anyway. If it’s a heavy rain or if thunderstorms are in the area, we will reschedule as timing allows. Communication will be via e-mail.
Is instruction offered for other types of adult rowing?
We also teach sculling in small groups of four, two, or even a single rower.
Private Lessons are set up on an individual basis and our
Learn to Scull class is another option.
If I can’t make Learn to Row fit into my schedule, can I still row?
If you’re a beginner and want to learn to row, but none of our current programming works for you,
Private Lessons may be for you. If you have some rowing experience,
contact us and we will figure out which program best suits your needs.
What if I don’t want to row but am interested in being a coxswain?
We are always on the lookout for new coxswains to steer us through practices and on to victory in regattas. If you are relatively small in stature and big in assertiveness, let’s talk! We do offer training and we’ll be glad to set up a plan that works for you. Coxswains generally need to be under 5’6” (though we do make exceptions) and the less they weigh the better.
