Coxswain Equipment

One of the coxswain's most physically demanding part of their role is using their voice. In order to communicate all the way down to the end of an eight, the coxswain has some equipment to help them in their role.

Cox Box

A small electronic device that the coxswain keeps with them at their seat. It gives them a readout of various information, such as stroke ratings. It plugs into the speaker harness in the shell.

The microphone is worn close to the mouth and is held on the coxswain's head with a glamorous strap. It plugs into the cox box.

Down the length of the shell at rower feet, there are speakers that amplify the coxswain's voice.
